Port promotes a healthy lifestyle and positive wellbeing and as such, encourages students and staff to participate in its weekly fitness programs. During the summer months, Port makes good use of the local beaches nearby by offering a run/walk and swim option. In the cooler seasons, fitness is offered at local gyms. External speakers are occasionally brought in to give expert talks on substance misuse, sexual health, smoking, bullying and a variety of other young person related topics.
2016 has also seen the start of a brand new subject at Port. Science and Philosophy have been merged with some good old-fashioned Health Studies to create the new Health and Wellbeing Curriculum. This course engages Port students with the Australian Curriculum in Health Education and brings together fun experiments with class discussions on healthy lifestyle choices, and personal values and ethics. In Term 1 students have conducted several experiments and have explored some protective behaviour strategies.
