Port School recognises the identities and the diversity of cultures and perspectives of the First Peoples of Australia. Our vision is to work collaboratively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and to use our role as a unique educational organisation to enable us to strengthen connections between staff, students and the wider community and help create a better future for all Australians.
Our Reconciliation Action Plan will help us to actively engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, staff and community and help them to guide us through a process of Truth Telling and listening. This process will strengthen our shared understanding of Australia’s true histories while we work together towards building a genuine empathy and respect for past, present and future Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Our vision is guided by our values of Diversity, Growth, Empowerment and Community and we aim to incorporate each of these into our ongoing conversation with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, into making visible our respect for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who looked after this Land for so many years and into preparing the way for an ongoing collaborative relationship for the years to come.
