A Note From Our Principal

My Port School journey started in mid 2001, when the then Principal asked me to redesign the workshop with Tim Murphy, who had also joined Port not long before.

After the refit I stayed on as the Workshop Teacher, a position I enjoyed immensely until the end of 2009.

In 2010, I was fortunate in winning the position of Principal at Port. At that time, the school had a student body of 50 and a team of 9 staff.

Over the last 10-plus years, I have been very fortunate in being surrounded by outstanding staff, which has enabled the School to grow and evolve into a place offering support to students who do not thrive in a mainstream education environment. It has been an absolute joy to be part of an organisation that can help our young students reach their potential. We are rewarded every day when we see them come to school with a smile, knowing that Port is a safe and supportive place.

We now have over 50 staff and 140 students. As you will soon learn from our website, we are a very diverse organisation. Our main priority is to get students to a place where they have self-belief and aspirations, and then to support them to transition out of Port School and on to a strong pathway for their future.
