Port School once again celebrated NAIDOC Day on Friday 30 June.
This year’s theme was “For our Elders”. Across every generation our Elders have played, and continue to play, an important role and hold a prominent place in our communities and families.
Welcome to Country was a powerful speech delivered by Aunty Charne Hayden. Following on was the Mungart Yongah Dance Group who braved the cold weather with their didgeridoo and clapping sticks telling stories through their songs and use dance as a way of bringing people together.
Students and their families, staff, friends and supporters of Port then enjoyed a variety of art, cultural and fun events along with traditional food (the roo tail was to die for) cooked up by Margaret Farmer’s Catering.
Another great day full of celebration For our Elders.
